Edgecase is a start-up SaaS company from Austin, Texas. Formerly Compare Metrics, Inc., the tech company changed its name to Edgecase in 2014 and came to me for a new logo design. They wanted a logo that played well with their current brand identity but that embodied their new name and spirit.
Compare Metrics had revised their visual identity only a year before. The bright colors and Swiss style aesthetic stood out at trade shows and they started to become known as the cool kids on the block. They didn’t want to stray far from the brand they’d just begun to build, but every new name deserves a fresh face.
Their original brand identity (designed by the über talented Alec Eriksson) guided me in the direction for their new logo. I used many of the same colors from the Compare Metrics logo and even included its hexagon shape. The result is a brand new logo, reminiscent of their original design that works seamlessly with their brand style. According to Edgecase: “We view this as less of a rebrand and more of a natural evolution of our identity.”
